What is integrative medicine and how is it different from conventional medicine?

Integrative medicine combines conventional medical care with evidence-based natural therapies to treat the whole person — mind, body, and spirit. Unlike conventional medicine, which often focuses on managing symptoms, integrative medicine at Integrative Wellness GR aims to find and address the root causes of illness using naturopathic medicine, acupuncture, functional lab testing, and lifestyle guidance.

What is a naturopathic doctor and what conditions can they treat?

A naturopathic doctor (ND) is trained in a four-year accredited naturopathic medical program and treats a wide range of conditions using natural therapies including botanical medicine, clinical nutrition, homeopathy, and lifestyle counseling. At Integrative Wellness GR our naturopathic doctors treat thyroid disorders, hormone imbalances, gut issues, autoimmune diseases, anxiety, fatigue, fertility challenges, Lyme disease, mold toxicity, and more.

Does Integrative Wellness GR accept insurance?

Integrative Wellness GR is a cash-pay practice. We do not bill insurance directly, but many patients use HSA or FSA accounts to cover their care. We can provide a superbill you may submit to your insurance for possible reimbursement. Contact us at hello@integrativewellnessgr.com or 616-899-9447 to learn more.

How do I know which doctor to book with at Integrative Wellness GR?

Each of our five practitioners has focused specialties. Dr. Zhiling Trowbridge (MD) specializes in acupuncture, chronic pain, IBS, and anxiety. Dr. Danni Hamilton (ND) focuses on mental health, endocrine, and gut health. Dr. Kimberly Howes (ND) treats gut health, immune issues, and hormone health. What can I expect at my first appointment?

Your first appointment is an in-depth consultation typically lasting 60 to 90 minutes. Your practitioner will review your full health history, current symptoms, lifestyle, diet, sleep, and stress levels before developing a personalized care plan.
