Amber's Bio

Hi, my name is Dr. Amber and I can’t wait to meet you! I am the Naturopathic Resident Doctor here at Integrative Wellness Grand Rapids, working under Kelly Peterson, ND and Dave Johnson, MD.

I discovered Naturopathic medicine while seeking additional options for my own chronic health concerns. I was blown away by how making a few small changes to my diet and lifestyle, in addition to targeted supplementation, could have such a positive impact on my overall health. This experience in combination with my love for helping others led me to pursue a degree in Naturopathic medicine.

I genuinely love the art and philosophy of Naturopathic medicine, which emphasizes viewing each person from a holistic perspective, in mind, body, and spirit. As a Naturopathic doctor (ND), I am trained to use the least invasive means necessary to help you achieve your health goals, but possess the knowledge to use higher level interventions when they are needed. I am here to listen to your story, and hope to empower you with the tools and knowledge fundamental to recognizing your own inherent ability to take charge of your health.

Women’s health is my greatest passion. I enjoy working with women of all ages, with a variety of health conditions, including premenstrual syndrome, infertility, polycystic ovarian syndrome, and perimenopause/menopause. My additional areas of interest include gastrointestinal health and mental health. Nutrition is one of my favorite modalities; I truly believe that food is medicine, and emphasize intuitive eating habits. Botanical medicine, hydrotherapy, and homeopathy are additional modalities I utilize.

I am a Grand Rapids native and am so excited for the future of integrative medicine in West Michigan. In my free time I enjoy spending time with friends and family, hiking, being in nature, soccer, cooking and baking, and traveling.

I graduated with a bachelor of science in Nutritional Sciences and a minor in German from Michigan State University. I attended National University of Natural Medicine in Portland, Oregon where I received my doctorate in Naturopathic medicine.
